Ahead of the local government elections in Oyo State, the leading chairmanship aspirant in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oorelope Local Government, Akeem Raheem Adepoju (ARA), has maintained that the local government is about to witness positive change in terms of social welfare and infrastructure development.
Raheem, who was recently cleared by the PDP Chairmanship Screening Committee, stated this while collecting his Clearance Certificate at the PDP State Secretariat, Molete, Ibadan, noting that the people of the local government would soon experience good governance.
According to Raheem, the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, means well for the people of the state and has been doing everything possible to uplift the people and reposition the state.
He noted, however, that the desire to replicate the good works being done by the governor across the state made him aspire to govern Oorelope Local Government.
He added that the people of the local government “can now heave a sigh of relief as a pro-people government is about to come into place in the local government.”
“In the last 21 months, the Governor Seyi Makinde administration has been delivering good governance in Oyo State, making serious impacts in the security, health, education and economic expansion sectors.
“However, some individuals put at the local government level to ensure that the grassroots dwellers enjoy positive developments have not emulated Governor Makinde and this has caused distaste among our people.
“But I bring a message of hope to the people of my local government; I am telling them that a new era is coming and that they will enjoy good governance by the way of social welfare, improvement in the education and health sectors and the rejuvenation of the economy of Oorelope Local Government.
Meanwhile, the camp of the incumbent caretaker chairman of the local government, Mr. Yaqub Adesola (Tasoolo), has suffered its first defeat in the build-up to the PDP primary slated for Thursday, as it only secured eight delegates out of the 30 ad-hoc delegates from the 10 wards of Oorelope Local Government.
Reporters At Large exclusively gathered that the camp of the incumbent chairman suffered its first humiliation on Tuesday, ahead of the party primary, as it was gathered that the camp was only able to garner 8 delegates out of the 30 ad-hoc delegates seats.
