The roadmap for the future of Oyo South took centre stage this weekend as a frontline Oyo South senatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Rt. Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide (Odidiomo) unveiled a sweeping legislative blueprint ahead of the critical 2027 general election.
Speaking at a packed community town hall in Ibadan, the experienced lawmaker shifted focus from past achievements to a comprehensive strategy aimed at expanding constituency development across the entire senatorial district.
Olajide said that his transition to the Senate will focus on scaling up digital inclusion, local economic empowerment, and robust community-led security infrastructure.
The interactive forum, tagged “Community Parley: Bridging the Gap Between Representation and the People,” brought together political leaders, community elders, youths, women, and religious leaders at the Odidiomo Eid prayer ground in Anfaani, Ibadan.
A Blueprint for the 2027 General Election
Rather than delivering a standard campaign speech, the lawmaker framed his 2027 campaign as a project rooted in continuity and advanced legislative experience. Having served for seven years in the House of Representatives, representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency, Olajide argued that Oyo South cannot afford a learning curve in the upper chamber.
“I am going to the Senate with the benefit of legislative experience as a ranking member of the House of Representatives. This is about continuity of quality representation. We should not lose the experience and relationships we have built over the years,” he stated.
A cornerstone of his future vision is an aggressive digital transformation agenda. The Chairman of Ibadan South-west Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Akande, strongly endorsed this direction during the session, describing technology as a critical driver of modern economic growth, youth empowerment, and improved governance. Olajide promised to expand these digital access frameworks from his immediate federal constituency to encompass all nine local governments within the senatorial district.
Absolute Clarity Under the Allied Peoples Movement APM
To prevent any political interference or voter confusion as the campaign intensifies, the Oyo South senatorial candidate firmly clarified his party alignment. He urged his core support network to remain disciplined and focused solely on the APM ballot symbol.
Our party is the Allied Peoples’ Movement. There should be no doubt, no mistake and no confusion about that. I urge all our supporters to remain steadfast and continue to identify with the APM,” he said.
He also urged unregistered residents to immediately participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise, calling electoral participation the literal foundation of democratic governance.
Accountability and Grassroots Liaison Officers
While focusing heavily on the future, Olajide noted that public office must always be accompanied by a clear account of stewardship. He explained that despite national funding constraints affecting constituency intervention projects, particularly since 2024, he has consistently delivered targeted interventions within available resources.
“My duty is to remain accountable to the people. Whatever we have achieved belongs to all of us and where there are gaps, we shall continue to work harder to bridge them,” he stated.
To ensure his 2027 vision remains directly connected to the streets, Olajide proposed a new governance model: appointing community representatives to serve as formal liaison officers. These officers will directly monitor ongoing interventions and communicate emerging grassroots needs to his office.
Home Growth and Collective Development
For Olajide, the Anfaani community is deeply personal. He described the gathering as a true homecoming, noting that he was born, raised, and nurtured within the immediate locality.
“I am a son of this soil. I grew up here in Anfaani. This community made me who I am today. Long before politics, you knew me and my family. In fact, many of you approached my late father and encouraged him to allow me venture into politics because you believed in my capacity to serve. Today, I have returned home to give an account of my stewardship over the last seven years,” he said.
Responding to appeals from youth groups and representatives from the Irepo Zone for equitable resource allocation, Olajide promised that his senatorial era would leave no neighborhood behind.
“Do not allow your opportunity to be taken elsewhere. charity begins at home, but development must reach every part of our constituency and by the grace of God, every part of Oyo south senatorial district,” he concluded.
