In a major political shift ahead of the 2027 elections, Oyo State indigenes are being called upon to unite behind Governor Seyi Makinde as he secures his place as the presidential candidate under the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM).
Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide (Odidiomo), strongly appealled to the state’s citizens across all political lines on Monday.
The House of Representatives member and candidate in the upcoming Oyo South Senatorial race framed Makinde’s candidacy as a golden chance for the state to field a credible national leader.

Speaking through a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, Olajide stressed that the governor’s campaign transcends typical party rivalries. He urged the public to recognise the historical weight of having a son of the soil on the ballot for the country’s top office. Whether living within Nigeria or abroad, every member of the community has a role to play.
“Charity begins from home. When one of our own has stepped forward to seek the presidency, Oyo state should be the first to support him. This is a moment for us to stand together and show the nation that we can support one of our own when the opportunity comes,” Olajide said.

Olajide noted that Makinde’s entry into the presidential race under the APM presidential ticket 2027 gives the region an influential voice in federal affairs.
