“In the food package provided, we have rice, beans, noodles, sugar, fish, and beverages, which, we believe, will sustain them for a month.

“This will be done every month; we are also coming back in December during the festive period,” he said.

Olaleye further stated that the club had embarked on several projects in its current state, such as renovation of the primary healthcare centre at Oluyole and book donations to some public schools.

Also, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mrs Lara Oluborode, said that the club had been known for its contribution to the welfare and wewell-beingf humanity, as it was done in the eradication of polio in the country.

Oluborode, also the club’s Director of Services, said that the food outreach was to support the indigents and their families in providing nutrition to promote their overall health and wellbeing.

Some of the beneficiaries of the food items, who spoke with NAN, expressed gratitude to the organisations and prayed for their progress.

One of them, Mr Tairu Somori, said the food items were timely and would address the scarcity of food they experienced.

Another beneficiary, Mr Lasisi Ogundipe, said the food items would help nourish him, as he had recently had a dearth of nutritious food.

Mrs Silfat Oderinlo and Mrs Silifat Abake also appreciated Rotary Club’s gesture which they described as a timely intervention.

“Food gives longevity and promotes good health, and that is what these food items represent to me and everyone else who has benefited from Rotary Club’s kindness,” Abake said.
