Despite the closure of Shasha Market by the Oyo State government on Saturday, the clash between Hausa and Yoruba residents continued unabated.

The youths, despite the presence of the military, police and other security agencies in the area, as at the rime of filling in this report, were still engaging in a fight for all.

It was gathered that one of the two tribes alleged that the military officers who were deployed to maintain law and order at the scene are protecting the other tribe.

Though our source was silence on the number of casualties recorded he said more houses have been burnt while many sustained degrees of injuries as of Saturday evening.

The crisis in Shasha, Ibadan started on Thursday after a hot argument ensued between a Yoruba man and a Hausa resident, which eventually led to the death of one of them.

A resident of Shasha, Kunle Olakunle told journalists that the crisis continued on Saturday evening despite the curfew imposed by the government.

“Those people are still engaging with each other despite the curfew. Please don’t stay long before you go home. I am also leaving here now. Our people are alleging that the soldiers are supporting their opponent.

“Government needs to act now before it degenerates to other parts of the state. Aside from the imposition of curfew, governors may need to ask their leaders to talk to their subject. I am afraid,” he said.
