NUJ Honours Fayemi’s Aide, Describes Ojo-Lanre As An Exemplary Ambassador Of Journalists In Government

Before the close of 2020, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), B Zone, Lagos, Ibadan, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Osun States gave an Award to Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre, the former Director-General, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture and now, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Tourism Development, for being an exemplary journalist who is doing extremely well at his duty post.

The award was bestowed on him by Comrade Oni Cosmas, National Deputy President, NUJ, B Zone at the Ekiti State Press Centre, Ado Ekiti during the 2nd term inauguration of Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela, led Ekiti NUJ EXCO.

Distinguished ex Ekiti NUJ Chairmen, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, High Chief Laolu Omosilade, and Prince Prince Kayode Oni, Chairman, League of Veteran Journalists, Ekiti State spoke glowingly of the contributions of Wale Ojo-Lanre, to the growth and strengthening of NUJ in the Zone.

Comrade Oni said that the Union was pleased with Ojo-Lanre’s activities, acts, and his diligence at his duty post.

He charged him not to rest on his oars as to who much is given, much is expected.

Comrade Oni commended Governor Kayode Fayemi for his appreciation and respect for the members of the fourth estate of the realm who he has saddled with various level of responsibilities

“It is noted that Governor Kayode Fayemi is one of the very few Governors in Nigeria who do not only appreciate media practitioners but involve them at a different level of governance in the state. We have distinguished journalist like Chief Akin Fasae, the Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, Segun Dipe, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, Ogunmola, Jumoke Oluropo Owoola, Asake Olawale Cash and others who I cannot remember their names now. All making us at NUJ B Zone proud of our professional members and appreciative of Dr Kayode Fayemi’s gesture.”

In his response, Ojo-Lanre who was grateful for the award said that whatever the activities, acts and deeds of him since his appointment are based on the strategic guidance and policy direction of Dr Kayode Fayemi and his wife Erelu Bisi Fayemi.

He commented Governor Fayemi for being a philosopher Governor who thinks and being who always have a critical appraisal of every developmental issue for the benefit of the state

Ojo- Lanre dedicated the award to Governor John Kayode Fayemi for believing that journalists can function well outside the realm of the media.
