Happy birthday to the world’s shortest woman living, Jyoti Amge, from India, who turned 30 years old today. She was born on 16 December 1993.

Guinness World Records reports that Jyoti plans to celebrate the milestone with her friends and family at home.

“I will be enjoying it a lot, having some fun and playing games,” she revealed.

Jyoti said the best birthday present she’s ever received was a “surprise gift” on her 18th birthday when the Guinness World Records team visited her to confirm her as the world’s shortest woman officially.

She also fondly remembers another occasion when she was given a life-size birthday cake: “Surprisingly, my American friends gifted me a big birthday cake of my height. ”

As for this year, Jyoti hopes to receive a “new luxury car” from her parents.

The past decade has been eventful for Jyoti, who achieved many of her childhood dreams in her twenties.

She said that one of her favourite moments was featuring in the fourth season of American Horror Story: Freak Show, which earned her the title of world’s shortest actress.

Another highlight for her was when she appeared as a guest participant on Bigg Boss (India’s version of reality TV show Big Brother).

Jyoti Amge, who stands at just 62.8 cm (24.7 in) tall, has also travelled to many countries since being awarded her world record.

In 2012, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by travelling to London and meeting the world’s shortest man, Chandra Bahadur Dangi (Nepal; 1939–2015). At a height of 54.6 cm (21.5 in), Chandra was the first adult shorter than Jyoti that she’d ever encountered.

“When I met the shortest man in the world and got to know him, I felt very happy,” Jyoti said. “I felt more included and more satisfied that there is somebody like me too.”

A year later, Jyoti jetted off to New York City, where Guinness World Records Adjudicator Mike Janela showed her around.

“She may be the shortest living woman, but Jyoti Amge is one of the biggest personalities we have in the Guinness World Records universe,” Mike said.

Despite being smaller than one of New York’s fire hydrants, Jyoti was the centre of attention wherever she went.

“I got excited,” she said, “because when people see me and recognize me, they all want to take a photograph with me.”

In 2018, six years after meeting the world’s shortest man, she travelled to Egypt to meet the world’s tallest man, Sultan Kösen (Türkiye). At a height of 251 cm (8 ft 2.8 in), Sultan is four times taller than Jyoti.

After meeting Chandra and Sultan, Jyoti said: “I never knew people could be so oddly different. After meeting them I felt happy that there were others like me too.”

Jyoti recently travelled to Milan, Italy, to appear on our televised talent show, Lo Show Dei Record. Jyoti had also been on the show over a decade ago, in 2012.

Next year, Jyoti plans to continue her globetrotting adventures. In 2024, she plans to visit the UK Guinness World Records office and the USA.

With such exciting plans for the upcoming year, we do not doubt that Jyoti’s thirties will be even more fun than her twenties!
