THE Federal Road Safety Corps has promised to support the physically challenged people in the country.
The Corps Marshal of the commission, Boboye Oyeyemi, made this known while receiving the Senior Special Assistant to the President on disability matters, Dr Samuel Odeh Ankali, who came on advocacy visit to the FRSC National Headquarters, Abuja.
Oyeyemi said as the lead agency for road safety management and administration in the country, FRSC is conscious of the plight of people with disabilities, adding that conscious efforts were made to provide for their peculiar needs in both the Nigeria Highway Code and the National Drivers’ Licence.
He assured the Presidential aide that the Corps will collaborate with his office to address some of the challenges facing those who are physically challenged.
The corps marshal said, “Mr President has demonstrated his concern for the welfare of people with disabilities through your appointment. I wish to assure you that FRSC would join hands with the President to attain his vision for the welfare of the disabled.”
according to the statement found on the official website of the FRSC, Ankali had earlier commended the Corps Marshal for his passion for road safety, saying the president was happy with the activities of the FRSC.
“We want to partner with the FRSC through our membership of the Special Marshals and Partnership to enable us provide the necessary enlightenment, inspiration and intelligence on road usage to the people,” he stated.
President Muhammadu Buhari had demonstrated his concern for the welfare of persons with disabilities by appointing a senior special assistant who would coordinate the activities of physically challenged persons.
