Although Iddris Sandu is only 21 years old, he has made several noteworthy contributions to the world of technology. His accomplishments include founding his own software development company, creating crucial algorithms for tech behemoths like Instagram, Snapchat, and Uber, working with celebrities like Kanye West and Jaden Smith, and even receiving praise from the late U.S. President Obama!

When Iddris was three years old, his parents moved from Accra, Ghana, to the United States. When he was ten years old, he began studying programming independently. He gained his first professional experience at Google at 13, where he worked on numerous programming projects.

Iddris created an app for his classmates to assist them in conveniently traversing their classrooms during his two years at Google. At the time, he was only 15 years old. He met then-President Obama at the White House, where he received the Presidential Scholar Award because of his software, which his California high school employed.

He, however, made the choice not to attend college. In addition to not having the money, his other excuse is that he didn’t want to “wait four years; I wanted to make an impact now,” as he told CNN. That is precisely what he did.

Iddris began working for Uber at age 18. He had previously produced important algorithms for Instagram and Snapchat. He developed the Autonomous Collision Detection Interface software for Uber’s self-driving cars.

Iddris Sandu and rapper Nipsey Hussle connected by coincidence at a nearby Starbucks last year, and they soon began working together. The two turned an empty shopfront in Los Angeles into The Marathon Store, which sells apparel, accessories, and music, in just three weeks. Customers can also download exclusive music and digital content through its companion app, the “smart store.

The store, which emphasised Iddris’ technological prowess and Nipsey’s cultural impact, attracted the attention of many famous people and icons, including Russell Westbrook, Vegas Jones of Roc Nation, Diddy, and Jay-Z.

For the tech festival ComplexCon in Chicago next year, Iddris most recently collaborated with Kanye West and Jaden Smith to develop augmented reality experiences involving music, apparel lines, disaster relief initiatives, etc.

Iddris has a promising future ahead of him, and he also wants to let others know about it. The following year, he plans to travel to Lagos, Nigeria, to organise student workshops. He hopes to teach African children how to create platforms because he believes in the excellence of Black people.

“Africans are going to be the next IT leaders. Why? Since they encounter issues for which they have answers, he explained.
