The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values, Hon. Segun Odebunmi has commended the way the media rise up to the task in informing and enlightening Nigerians on the Coronavirus.

In a statement, Mr Odebunmi urged the media to lead the fight against fake news by being professional and checking the source of stories before airing.

The lawmaker also commended the efforts of health personnel in curtailing the scourge of the virus, charging them not to relent in their efforts at sensitizing the public on the need to obey the necessary preventive guidelines.

He expressed optimism that the palliative measures announced by President Muhammadu Buhari in the areas with the highest number of cases will go along way in providing succour to the affected people.

Mr Odebunmi, advised Nigerians to comport themselves along with the established preventive rules, adding that it is ethically easy to adhere to these measures than risk the chance of being infected by the dreaded virus.
