Tourism history was made in Ekiti State today 27 July 2020 at Fabian Country Home Hotel, Ado Ekiti, where the Vice-President, Federation of Tourism Associations in Nigeria (FTAN), Otunba Ayo Olumoko, inaugurated the first-ever Ekiti State Chapter of FTAN.
The inauguration was attended by stakeholders in tourism including Commissioner for Arts Culture and Tourism, Professor Rasaki Bakare, SSA to Gov Fayemi on Tourism Development, Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre and others
FTAN is the Umbrella body that represents all the private sector in the Tourism and related industry in Nigeria.
The Association was established in 1997 by the then Federal Ministry of Commerce and Tourism to facilitate liaison between Government agencies and the organized private sector in Nigeria’s tourism industry.
While inaugurating the association Olumoko said, “Today we are rewriting the history of tourism in Ekiti State as the berth of this association will not only bring development but create more jobs and opportunities for the people of the state.”
Also, SSA Tourism Development to Governor Fayemi who is also a member of the association in his welcome remark said the development will enhance tourism promotion and economic development in the state.
Amb. Ojo-Lanre said Governor Fayemi is not just passionate about developing the sector in Ekiti but he is also interested in making the state a preferred tourism destination in Nigeria and Africa.
