Hon Odebunmi Empowers Constituency Youths

The lawmaker representing Ogo Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency, Hon Olusegun Odebunmi on Monday presented laptops and cameras to youths in his constituency.

In all, 50 HP Laptops and 15 Canon cameras were presented to beneficiaries, drawn from the participants at the Cinematography training for the youths, held in December 2020.

During the training, the beneficiaries were taken through the rudiments of film-making, video editing and film directing, among others.

Presenting the items, Hon Odebunmi said the essence of the empowerment is to increase the number of youths from his constituency in the ICT and Film Making industries.

Odebunmi who is the chairman, House of Reps Committee on Information, National Orientation Ethics and Values said “The world is moving away from oil to ICT and creative industry and one of the way to help the youth is to provide means for capacity building and empower them with tools and start-up funds in these current order.

“I will continue to do support youth development, my constituents are important, and I will continue to promote anything that will enhance growth and advancement of my people especially the youths because they are the future of the next generation.

While urging the youths to make judicious use of the items, the All Progressives Congress Chieftain said they should also make themselves available for more training to develop and broaden skills on the job.

“The project coordinator, Alhaji Al-Maruff Ajibolu in his opening remark implore beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity to build a career in the creative industry.

“Already there is a paradigm in revenue generation, hence the need to increase the stream of revenue for economic development.

Timothy Adebayo a photographer, Adebayo Adedamola, a writer and Tosin Ajadi an actress in their separate remarks appreciated Hon Odebunmi for his support and promise to make good use of the items.

Ajadi said “You gave us the exact things that we need to enhance our professional career. It was unprecedented in our history. We are grateful and pray that the good Lord also fulfils all your needs as well,” he concluded.
