The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has suspended election in the Ido local government of the state over the missing of the Zenith Labor Party (ZLP) logo on the ballot box.
The OYSIEC chairman, Aare Isiaka Olagunju while speaking with journalists on Saturday at the commission’s headquarters in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital stated that the omission was a grossly mistake on their part despite efforts put in place by the commission in ensuring free, fair, and credible poll.
According to Olagunju, “An information just reaching me now which is not palatable, I was notified that ZLP logo is missing on the ballot box, and we take full responsibility for the mistakes, it was not intensionally, ZLP is contesting in just one local government out of the 33 local government in the state which is Ido local government.
“It will be wrong if the logo of a party is missing in the box and we continue the election, that is why we decided to suspend the election in the local government.”
Olagunju, however, reiterated OYSIEC commitment toward the free, fair and credible election, adding that the commissions will be unbiased in discharging its duty.
