Dada Morenike Blessing, a 400-level, English and Literary Studies, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti was selected as Miss Usi Day 2020, on the first Saturday of August 2020.
REPORTERS AT LARGE recalls that Blessing was very spectacular and brilliant throughout the selection process. She displayed a deep knowledge of Usi culture and very cosmopolitan with global issues. She was excellent.
When asked about her vision for Usi Youths, she said “I will embark on career guidance and counselling. I have noticed that some of us in Usi need this. This will be my first six months project. This is because if we can get it right from the start, we shall get it right throughout.
“Also, I will accompany that by equipping my people with a second address. I have noticed that even when you get the right choice of career. The opportunity for the job might not be instant. You need to acquire a fill-in-the-gap passion vocation which maybe your focus in life. I will do this.”
Many people thought she was just telling the audience what she supposed to be what I would love to hear. But to God be the glory that this young lady had fulfilled all.
Last Saturday, she held one of her projects, skill acquisition, which she facilitated and financed through her parents, Hon Kola Dada and his wife.
The Senior Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Tourism Development, Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre reacting to Blessing’s feat said, “Instead of her to pressure or trick her parent to give her money to organise a lavish party or other flimsy act, she got money from her parents who are not rich to enable others.
“This lady deserves a special award and commendation.
“While some who became Miss this or that always embrace bogus, senseless and unsustainable projects, she has within a limited resource empowered 35 youths in Usi Ekiti.
“She is not stupid. She has just showcased herself as a light bearer of purpose.”
