Rick Ross is feeling charitable. The rapper collaborated with Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif to award eight Miami students from Carol City Senior High School in Miami Gardens, Florida, $10,000 in scholarships.

On his visit to the school, Ross remarked, “You know, to come and give back to the community right here, that means a lot.” Students also received tickets to Rolling Loud Miami in July and the scholarship. Reggie Leon, a councilman for the City of Miami Gardens, and Dr Steve Gallon II, a school board member, joined Ross and Cherif.

“I am nothing but blessed,” scholarship recipient De’Zyre Frederick told CBS Miami. “It’s good to see the alumni come back and give back to the students, which is so amazing.”

The scholarships were in honour of Ross’ Boss Up Day 2023 and awarded to students who displayed academic excellence. “It’s not a gift,” Cherif added. “They earned it.”

At the awards ceremony, Ross pulled out a hundred-dollar cash from his pocket and gave it to a student with a staggering 4.6 GPA.

The rapper recently hinted at a collaboration with Meek Mill by posting a photo of the two in the studio on Instagram with the phrase “Dreams & Nightmares.” Ross will also be part of the 2023 Legendz of the Streetz Reloaded Tour, which launches in Philadelphia on April 14. Other performers include Jadakiss, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Cam’ron, Remy Ma, Fivio Foreign.

Who Is Rick Ross?

William Leonard Roberts II (born January 28, 1976), known professionally as Rick Ross, is an American rapper, record executive, and former athlete.

Prior to releasing his debut single, “Hustlin’,” in 2006, Ross was the subject of a bidding war, receiving offers from Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment and Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc., ultimately signing a multimillion-dollar deal with Jay-Z on Def Jam Recordings. Ross released his debut album, Port of Miami, through the label later that year, debuting at the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart with sales of 187,000 units during the first week. Ross released his second studio album, Trilla, in 2008, once again debuting atop the Billboard 200.

Outside of his solo career, Ross was a lead member of the hip-hop group Triple C’s, alongside fellow Florida rappers Gunplay and Torch, in 2005. Ross founded the record label Maybach Music Group in 2009, on which he released his studio albums Deeper Than Rap (2009), Teflon Don (2010), God Forgives, I Don’t (2012), Mastermind and Hood Billionaire (2014), Black Market (2015), Rather You Than Me (2017), and Port of Miami 2 (2019), and his eleventh and most recent studio album, Richer Than I Ever Been, was released in December 2021. Prominent music industry acts have signed to Rick Ross through the Maybach Music label, including Meek Mill, Wale, and French Montana.

In early 2012, MTV named Ross the hottest MC in the game.
