The Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture (LSCAC) and Tigolf Travels and Tours are celebrating this year’s World Theatre Day on Monday to raise awareness of the importance of theatrical performance in humanity.
This was disclosed on Friday by the executive director of Tigolf Travels and Tours, Yinka Folahan, that ‘The King Must Die: The People’s Story,’ which is directed by Tunde Fagbure, has been selected in line with this year’s theme, “Theatre and a Culture of Peace.”.
He said, “For the third time, my play made it to the stage to commemorate this yearly program. Agbekoya and Restless are my two dramatic texts staged in Ibadan and Abeokuta to celebrate World Theatre Day respectively.
“Telling a story from the lens of the camera is a film, and through the lens of the stage is theatre. Having my plays on stage by live performers is a different artistic craft, and that art is what Lagos state government has been committed to keep alive despite 21st century challenges.”
