A member of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Barrister Michael Lana, has bemoaned the death of the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, describing it as a tragic and rude shock.
In a statement he signed, Lana described the former President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) as a visionary leader who was unwaveringly dedicated to his people and social justice.
He asserted that Akeredolu demonstrated unwavering determination throughout his life, leaving a lasting impact in law and politics. He led significant initiatives that resulted in positive changes for the South West region and the entire country.
The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the last general election added that the memory of the immediate chairman of the South West Governors Forum will continue to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations to come, noting that he would be remembered for his legacy of compassion, justice, and progress.
Lana said, “I mourn the death of a dear big brother, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State. His death came to me as a rude shock because it is nothing but the end of a glorious era of service to humanity, not only through the law profession but also politics.
“Arakunrin Akeredolu made a great impact in championing the cause of justice and the upliftment of the people at all times. I commiserate with his dear wife, Mrs Betty Akeredolu, the children and the entire family, members of the law profession, as well as the good people of Ondo State, praying that the good Lord will comfort us all and grant us the fortitude to bear the loss of an icon who died at a time when his services were still needed.”
