Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Alli, representing the Oyo South Senatorial District, has announced plans to officially declare his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship 2027 seat.
This is contained in a statement issued by his Media Office and made available to newsmen on Monday in Ibadan. The announcement marks a significant shift in the Oyo APC landscape as the race to succeed the current administration begins to take shape.

The declaration ceremony is scheduled to hold on Friday, April 17 at the Divisional Police Station Training Field, Yemetu, Ibadan by 10:00 a.m.
The event is expected to attract a large gathering of party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and well-wishers from across the state and beyond as the seasoned politician formally unveils his ambition under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senator Alli, a former Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, ex-Secretary to the Oyo State Government, and former Chief of Staff to a past governor, is widely regarded as a grassroots mobiliser with vast administrative and political experience.

The senator, who currently represents Oyo South at the National Assembly, is said to be stepping into the race with a strong vision to reposition the state for sustainable development, improved governance, and inclusive growth.

A leading governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli has intensified statewide consultations ahead of his anticipated governorship declaration. He engaged stakeholders across Ogbomoso and Oyo federal constituencies to consolidate support within the APC structures.
During the visit, Alli paid homage to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owode, in company of Hon Akeem Adeyemi and other influential political leaders. He visited Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire local governments, where he received unanimous endorsement from party leadership and stakeholders at all levels.
