The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the official Osun governorship election result, confirming that Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured a decisive victory to remain in office for a second term.
Running as the Accord party candidate, the incumbent governor swept through the polls across the state, securing a broad mandate from the electorate in a closely watched political contest. The final declaration came after hours of collation at the state headquarters, confirming the political trajectory of the state for the next four years.
Official Breakdown of the Osun Governorship Election Result
The State Returning Officer, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, declared the result of the poll at about 7:24 am on Sunday. Following an exhaustive collation exercise that lasted through the night, the commission confirmed the official tally across all local government areas.
Adeleke polled a total of 511,067 votes to emerge victorious in the contest. The total vote distribution highlights the electoral footprint of the major contenders, showing strong support across both rural and urban centres in the state.
Ogunwole subsequently returned the governor to office for another term. The declaration marks a significant milestone in the state’s political landscape as the incumbent administration prepares to consolidate its local programmes and regional policies.
How Gov Ademola Adeleke Secured His Re-Election Mandate
The incumbent Osun governor, who contested the poll on the platform of the Accord, defeated his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who won in 11 LG areas of the state.
The spread of the votes indicates a clear regional divide across key LGAs, with the winning party maintaining control over its traditional strongholds while making inroads into critical voting blocs. While Adeleke won in Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo, Iwo, Egbedore, Ife North, Ife East, Ife Central, Oriade, Ifelodun, Orolu, Ayedaade, Ayedire, Odo Otin, Boluwaduro, Ilesa West, Ifedayo, Osogbo and Ayedire local government areas.
Oyebamiji, however, won in Irewole, Isokan, Olorunda, Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun and Obokun local government areas. The candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the poll, Najeem Salaam, came third in the poll.

The collation process concluded with party agents gathering to observe the final certification of numbers before the returning officer read out the total figures recorded by the electoral authority.

After agents of the political parties have signed the results of the election, the Returning Officer declared Adeleke of the Accord as the winner of the poll.
“That Ademola Nurudeen-Jackson Adeleke having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declare the winner of the August 15 Governorship election and returned elected,” Ogunwole said.
