The presidential candidate and National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), Aare Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje, has assured the party’s candidates omitted from the INEC candidate list that there is no cause for alarm. He said the party had started moves to resolve the matter ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Omo-Aje assured this during a town hall meeting in Kaduna, where he addressed concerns over the omission of some Action Alliance candidates.
The affected candidates are seeking governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly seats across several states.
Action Alliance Begins Move Over INEC Candidate List
Omo-Aje described the omission as a possible technical error and disclosed that the party had already set its legal machinery in motion. According to him, the Action Alliance legal team is preparing a formal complaint to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The complaint will draw the commission’s attention to the omitted names and seek a review of the published list. The party expects the process to lead to the restoration of its affected candidates ahead of the 2027 polls.
Omo-Aje expressed confidence that the issue could be resolved through the appropriate administrative and legal channels.
He maintained that the party complied with the requirements and deadlines stipulated by INEC for the nomination of candidates.
AA Candidates Affected Across Several States
Among the governorship candidates affected are Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo of Oyo State and Barr. Eke Benjamin Israel of Rivers State. Others are Abdullah-Bukharin of Nasarawa State and Zubairu Musa of Bauchi State. However, Omo-Aje explained that the issue goes beyond the party’s governorship candidates.
Several Action Alliance candidates seeking seats in the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly were also reportedly missing from the published list.
The development has raised concerns among candidates and party supporters in the affected states.
Omo-Aje, however, urged them not to panic.
He assured the candidates that the party leadership was following developments closely and would protect the interests of all duly nominated candidates.
INEC Candidate List: Party Confident of Resolution
The Action Alliance chairman expressed confidence that a review of INEC’s records would lead to the restoration of the omitted candidates. According to him, the party fulfilled the requirements within the stipulated period.
He therefore believes the situation can be corrected once the commission reviews the relevant nomination records.
Omo-Aje also urged party members, particularly those in the affected states, to remain calm and law-abiding while the leadership pursues the matter.
The party, he stressed, would continue to use every available administrative and legal channel until the issue is resolved.
Despite the dispute, Omo-Aje praised the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, for what he described as transparent and committed leadership. He expressed confidence in the commission’s ability to address the concerns raised by the Action Alliance.
The AA presidential candidate maintained that the party remained committed to the rule of law, due process and credible elections.
He added that the leadership would not abandon lawful procedures in its effort to secure the restoration of its candidates.
2027 General Elections: Action Alliance Urges Stronger Verification
Beyond the immediate concerns of the Action Alliance, Omo-Aje called on INEC to strengthen its verification process before publishing final lists of candidates.
He argued that stronger checks could reduce errors and prevent needless anxiety among political parties, candidates and their supporters.
Such measures, he said, could also help prevent avoidable litigation as Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
Candidate lists remain an important part of the electoral process because they establish those formally recognised to contest under registered political parties.
For the Action Alliance, resolving the omissions has therefore become an immediate priority as campaigns gather momentum. The party urged the commission to review its records and restore every candidate it says was duly nominated and submitted in line with electoral requirements.
AA’s Decision On 2027 Campaigns
Omo-Aje made it clear that the dispute over the INEC candidate list would not halt the party’s political activities. He maintained that the Action Alliance would continue its campaigns while its leadership works to protect the interests and mandates of the affected candidates.
The party is expected to pursue its formal complaint with INEC while keeping affected candidates informed of developments.
For candidates in Oyo, Rivers, Nasarawa and Bauchi states, as well as those seeking legislative seats, the outcome of that engagement will be crucial.
The party leadership remains confident that the omissions can be corrected without disrupting its wider preparations for the election.
Omo-Aje’s message to candidates and supporters was therefore one of calm, continued mobilisation and confidence in due process.
With the 2027 general elections approaching, the Action Alliance says its immediate task is clear: continue campaigning while pursuing every lawful avenue to ensure that its duly nominated candidates appear on the final INEC candidate list.
