HOODLUMS, suspected to be political thugs of opposition parties, Sunday evening, invaded and disrupted the familiarisation trip of one of the governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin.

The fracas which lasted for about ten minutes saw Vice Admiral Jibrin supporters and onlookers scampering for safety.

The crisis erupted after Vice Admiral Jibrin left the palace of Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni for the town hall to meet with APC party delegates where people were also waiting with another funfair to receive him.

Some unidentified hoodlums, suspected to be working for some politicians with the state at that time stormed the venue to attack the APC Guber aspirant with some brandishing weapons such as knives, cutlasses, guns and local charms, among others.

The rapid intervention of the security operatives attached to the campaign train, who dispersed the criminal elements, brought back normalcy to the community.

Vice Admiral Jibrin stormed Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State where the sons and daughters of the state happily received him with songs of praises, accompanied with funfair and chanting of “enough is enough” which is the slogan of Jibrin.

The APC Guber aspirant received lots of well-wishes and blessings from all the royal fathers and traditional chiefs of Ijumuland.

Meanwhile, several attempts by the hoodlums to disrupt the movement was not successful.

Reacting to the incident, the APC Guber aspirant declared that the attack was premeditated by some unnamed individuals who are against his rescue mission in Kogi State.

Jibrin noted that the attack attempt proved that he had become a threat with his growing popularity to opposition parties in the state.

He, however, commended the security operatives attached to his train for responding swiftly and dispersing the thugs without anybody sustaining any injuries.

Addressing the people Ijumu community, Jibrin said he has come to rescue the people of the state from political recklessness and prevalent poverty and regression in the state.

“By the grave pf God and with your supports, I shall emerge as the Guber candidate of the rulling All Progressive Congress in Kogi State, and I shall eventually become the governor of the state. And my emergence as the governornof this great state shall herald unprecedented development and economic bouyancy in the state, which would make our state the cynosure of all eyes in the countey,” Jibrin said.
