The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched a national campaign to attract foreign investment and talent. It includes a new ‘Green Visa’, enabling expatriates to work in the country without being sponsored by an employer.
The ‘United Global Emirates’ initiative targets investors, highly skilled workers, entrepreneurs and start-ups, as well as graduates.
Green visa holders will be able to sponsor their parents and children up to the age of 25 on their permits.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the initiative, which aims to attract talent from across the globe by championing the UAE’s capabilities, services, infrastructure, legal frameworks and resources available to professional talent.
On Twitter, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, said the campaign aimed to secure the UAE’s position as one of the strongest global economies over the next 50 years.
“Our nation will build on its entrepreneurial achievements to reinforce its status as a prime destination for talent, expertise and investments,” he said.
