The management of the University of Ibadan (UI) says it has moved to resolve the challenge its graduates are facing at the orientation camps for their youth service.
The Director of Public Relations, UI, Mrs Joke Akinpelu, in Ibadan on Saturday said the situation has been under control.
“UI is already doing what the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) required of it and the Corps members are being accepted now,” Akinpelu said.
Skyray News recalled that a few days ago, NYSC rejected graduates of some universities including UI and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (UNN) among others.
According to an NYSC official, in a circular dated November 7, 2022, and signed by the Director (Corps Mobilisation), Isa Walida Siddique, titled, ‘Prospective Corps Members With Incomplete Data For Camp Registration,’ various institutions had been duly noted on the requirements acceptable by the commission.
‘‘However, it is unfortunate that a few Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs) are yet to comply with the resolution, thereby making the registration of Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) very problematic. It goes without saying that lack of harmonisation of data both on the portal and on hardcopies can alter the mobilisation status of PCMs, hence the zero tolerance of the Management towards the few CPIs that still indulge in it.
‘‘In view of the foregoing, you are kindly requested to advise all PCMs awaiting registration to go back to their institutions to rectify their respective challenges,” the letter partly read. (Skyray News)
