A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Engineer Oyedele Hakeem Alao, has congratulated Christians and the entire people of the state as they celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivals.
Alao in a Christmas message issued by his Media Office urged the people to reflect on the basic tenets of Christianity which harkened on perseverance, faithfulness, determination and peace.
“Irrespective of our religious affiliations, we can draw immense strength and inspiration from the enduring legacies of the life of Jesus Christ who sacrificed his life for the redemption of our souls,” he said.
He similarly enjoined Christians to use the festive occasions to pray for unity, peace and prosperity of the state, stating that the forthcoming general election provides the people with the opportunity to rescue democracy and the state.
According to him, it is important for the people to make it part of their New Year resolution that they will play their constitutional roles to ensure that there is a peaceful, credible, free and transparent election in February and March 2023.
He said, “I wish the people of the state a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I want to call on Christians, in particular, and the entire people, to emulate the virtues of Christ, who through self-sacrifice brought salvation to humanity.
“The coming election provides an opportunity for the people to make judicious use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) to elect credible individuals that would move the state and the country forward.”
