Amb Wale Ojo-Lanre, a former Senior Special Assistant on Tourism Development to former Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi, will receive an award from the Ilogbo community in Ekiti State on September 9th.
The Usi-Ekiti-born tourism impresario, who also served as the Director-General of the Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture under the Fayemi-led administration, has bagged several local and international honours for promoting culture and tourism globally.
Ojo-Lanre, an Associate Editor with the Nigerian Tribune Newspaper, began advocating for creating a separate ministry for Tourism in Nigeria and promoting domestic tourism to boost creativity, job creation, empowerment, and revenue generation.
The Pioneer President of the Nigerian Guild of Tourism Editors was appointed as the Director General Council for Arts and Culture by Gov Fayemi in 2019
In the letter signed by Rt. Hon. Prince Orisalade Adetunji Taiwo, Chairman Otunba Prince Ayo Alonge Secretary of the Planning Committee, respectfully reads:
“Please be informed that the Ilogbo-Ekiti Day 2023 Planning Committee had, with the consent and authority of Owalogbo-in-Council and the Egbe Omo Ilogbo-Ekiti (EOIE), resolved to bestow an Award of Honour on your Goodself during the Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Ilogbo-Ekiti Day.”
“The Award of Honour is in recognition of your achievements and contributions towards the growth and development of the community at large.”
This year’s Ilogbo-Ekiti Day will start on September 4th, and the grand finale will be held on September 9th.
It would be recalled that Ilogbo Ekiti is the only town in the world that hosts a palm Tree with 42 heads.
