Momentum is building across the continent as registrations open for the highly anticipated Africa Tourism Leadership Forum 2026 (ATLF) and Africa Connects™ initiative. Scheduled to run from 2 to 4 September 2026, the landmark event will see industry pioneers, ministers, and corporate executives converge at the Meropa Casino and Entertainment World in Polokwane City, Limpopo, South Africa.

The primary agenda for this year’s gathering centres heavily on driving intra-Africa travel through policy innovation and smart economic alignment.

With the continent’s hospitality sector undergoing rapid change, the forum serves as a critical marketplace designed to address unique regional dynamics. Organised by the Limpopo Provincial Government through the Limpopo Tourism Agency, the event is held in close partnership with Africa Tourism Partners (ATP), the AfCFTA Secretariat, and UN Tourism. Industry figures note that while attendance is complimentary, space remains strictly limited, which has prompted calls for travel professionals to secure their places early.

Unlocking Pan-African Tourism Investment

A central pillar of the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum 2026 is its dedicated focus on project financing. The event aims to bridge the gap between regional project developers, development finance institutions (DFIs), private banks, and international financiers. By centralising these conversations, the forum facilitates real-time Pan-African tourism investment, turning raw potential into operational infrastructure.

Furthermore, businesses can leverage direct business-to-business (B2B) platforms, exhibitions, and speed-marketing sessions. These practical spaces allow hotel owners and destination management companies to close deals directly with tour operators and Online Travel Agencies (OTAs).

Driving Sustainable Tourism Growth

Beyond immediate deal-making, the three-day gathering addresses long-term structural resilience. Delegates will explore digital transformation strategies and learn to implement sustainable hospitality practices essential for guest retention. This focus ensures that the surge in visitor numbers translates directly into sustainable tourism growth across local ecosystems.

Regulatory advocacy forms another critical layer of the event. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with government officials, regional tourism boards, and top policymakers to influence industry regulations and stay ahead of fast-evolving travel policies.

Shaping the Future of Regional Travel

The event also champions excellence through the Africa Tourism Leadership Awards, which celebrate top-performing businesses and innovators across the continent. To ease logistical access, South African Airways and Kenya Airways have stepped forward as official airline partners, offering discounted fares to registered international delegates.
A spokesperson for the organisers outlined the significance of the upcoming gathering:

“The forum presents a distinguished lineup of global thought leaders, ministers, policymakers, and C-suite executives. These leaders will advance intra-Africa travel, promote sustainable growth, and encourage policy innovation.”

As the travel landscape continues to shift, we highly recommend that content creators, hospitality executives, and aviation stakeholders register early. By uniting the brightest minds in the sector, the event promises to chart a definitive course for the future of African hospitality.
