The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the construction and rehabilitation of eight strategic road projects across the three senatorial districts in the state.
This major federal intervention comes as political stakeholders align strategies ahead of the Tinubu 2027 election campaign.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo APC governorship candidate described the development as a historic breakthrough for the region.
Senator Alli noted that the approval once again demonstrated President Tinubu’s commitment to equitable development, national integration, and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, this massive investment in critical Nigeria federal road infrastructure is a clear testament that Oyo State occupies a strategic place in the development agenda of the Federal Government.
“The projects will not only ease the movement of people and goods but also boost agriculture, commerce, industrialisation, and socio-economic development across the state and neighbouring states.”
Unpacking the Eight Oyo State Road Projects
Senator Alli listed the approved projects as the dualisation of the Ilorin-Ogbomoso Road, the dualisation of the old alignment Ijawaya-Federal Government College-Ilorin Road with a spur to Akinmorin, the reconstruction of the Iseyin-Eruwa-Agbesi Road linking Oyo and Kwara states, and the reconstruction of the Ogbomoso-Oko-Illupu Road linking Oyo and Osun states.
Other federal interventions include the construction of the 30-kilometre Idi-Araba-Ayede-Olodo Road, the rehabilitation of the Igbeti Road, the construction of the Igbeti-Soro-Kishi Road, as well as the construction of the 13-kilometre Badeku-Jaiye Road, all within Oyo.
Senator Alli noted that these initiatives reflected President Tinubu’s readiness to address long-standing infrastructural deficits that had hindered the economic potential of many communities across the state.
He profoundly appreciated the President on behalf of the good people of Oyo State, saying the people would never forget the landmark gesture.
