Senator Fatai Buhari, representing Oyo North Senatorial District, has congratulated the Alado of Ado-Awaye, Oba (Rev.) Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi, on the forthcoming Iyake Natural Suspended Lake Cultural Carnival. He described the festival as “a priceless tourism jewel” capable of transforming the economic fortunes of Ado-Awaye, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large.
Senator Buhari, in his goodwill message, extolled the courage, vision, and cultural passion of the Alado in projecting Iyake Suspended Lake—the only natural suspended lake in the world—to global consciousness through an annual cultural carnival that unites heritage, spirituality, entertainment, and economic possibilities.
He noted that the Iyake Suspended Lake is not just a geographical wonder, but a strategic economic asset that deserves deliberate development, aggressive promotion, and sustained government-community partnership. According to him, the lake and its festival possess immense potential to:
- Create direct and indirect employment for youths
- Encourage local entrepreneurship and artisan activities
- Enhance infrastructure development around the site
- Boost domestic and international tourist arrivals
- Stimulate hospitality business growth across Oyo North
The Senator commended Oba Olugbile Folakanmi for his unwavering commitment to placing Ado-Awaye on the world tourism map. He saluted the monarch’s relentless efforts, creative initiatives, and deep love for his people, describing him as “a visionary royal father who clearly understands the power of culture as a driver of prosperity.”
Senator Buhari further urged government agencies, investors, cultural promoters, tourism boards, and corporate organizations to align with the Alado’s vision by supporting the festival and accelerating the development of the Iyake tourism corridor.
