The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission has officially commenced a comprehensive staff audit and verification exercise across all 33 Local Government Areas of the state.
Designed to run over five days, the initiative aims to verify the authenticity and proper documentation of all Local Government workers serving within the administrative system.
The sweeping audit kicked off on Wednesday at Ojongbodu in Oyo West Local Government Area, where officials gathered to screen employees from both Oyo West and Afijio Local Governments. Concurrently, a separate verification team operated out of Offa Meta in Atiba Local Government Area, serving personnel from Atiba and Oyo East.
Down in the Ogbomoso zone, staff members from Ogo-Oluwa, Surulere, and Ogbomoso South Local Governments all converged at Arowomole to undergo the screening process.
Staff Audit Not Intended to Witch-Hunt Workers
Leading the Commission’s board and management team on the opening day, Chairman Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole (famously known as Wolekanle) assured civil servants that the exercise carries no hidden agenda or punitive motives against genuine employees.

Wolekanle explained that the primary purpose of the verification exercise is to modernise administrative infrastructure, tighten public record-keeping, and maintain accurate, up-to-date personnel data across every department. He stressed that streamlining these operational records will promote greater professionalism, efficiency, and accountability in overall local government service delivery.
He further called on all public servants to maintain an unwavering focus on their daily responsibilities, urging them to stay dedicated to their duties and continuously strive for excellence in public administration.
Strategic Oversight by the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission
The crucial operational drive involves top leadership from the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission. Executive members participating on the ground include Commissioners Alhaji Yusuf Ali Akinkunmi (Supreme), Hon. Oladejo Emmanuel Oladokun, JP, and Hon. Christiana Nike Arewa.
The executive administrative wing is being spearheaded by Permanent Secretary Pastor Adeola Omoyeni Oduola. He is joined by key Directors and senior administrative heads:

- Alhaji Gbola Badiru Adedokun — Director, Finance and Supplies
- Mr. Rasheed Olabiyi — Director, Budget Planning, Research and Statistics
- Mrs. Funke Foluso Lala — Director, Education and Social Services
- Alhaja Modinat Adeleke — Internal Auditor
- Alhaji Olalekan Jelili Alade — Deputy Director, Administration and General Services
- Mr. Lukman Baliaminu Ojo — Acting Deputy Director, Administration and General Services
- Mr. Amusat Mutiu — Establishment Officer
Organised labour leaders are also actively participating in the field to observe procedures and protect member interests. Present during the initial phase were the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) State President, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun; State Deputy President, Comrade Olaleye Samson; and State Secretary, Comrade Adeniyi Adekojo.
The ongoing Staff Audit is set to extend into remaining Local Government Areas as the five-day schedule unfolds across the state.
