In response to the ongoing security concern within the Federal Capital Territory and Central Abuja, the construction company Julius Berger has closed operations in the capital city.

In a statement made available to the press on Saturday, the company advised its staff to avoid public premises during the weekend, adding that temporary relocation to other sites may be considered.

“It is advised to avoid all public events within the FCT environment, including supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, bars, clubs and other areas where many meet. This advice is applicable from 28.10.2022 in the evening until Monday, 31.10.2022 in the morning.

“It remains possible to move to other JBN work or residential locations throughout the weekend.

“Your safety is our primary concern.”

The construction company is the second to close down its operation following a terrorism attack alert on public places released on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Akali Baba Usman, has said the recent security alert is not true, urging public members to always bring relevant information to the police before making it known to the public.

REPORTERS AT LARGE earlier reported that the United States and United Kingdom governments had released security alerts, warning their citizens to steer clear of Abuja because of a planned terrorist attack.

IGP stated this on Saturday while inaugurating a modern police station and barracks in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

He said, “How can you enter the country and said there was a security alert. you also said I didn’t inform the police, and you went around telling people not to go to Abuja or return from Abuja.

“When you have information on security, it is proper to inform the police and we will find a way to tackle it, instead of taking it to the public.

“I am urging the media not to help them spread such information. We are working in synergy with other security agencies to ensure the safety of residents”

On the structure, IGP said the modern police stations and barracks had been built across six geopolitical zones.

He urged the community to take ownership of the projects, noting that they were built with public money and they should protect it.

He appealed to them not to vandalize the edifice when having issues with the police, saying that the station will have a CCTV camera covering at least 2km.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Ali Mohammed, commended the IGP for the edifice and other giant strides since his assumption of office.

He said that the gesture would motivate them to perform better and help mitigate their challenges.
