The senatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has declared that his political aspiration rests entirely on authentic service rather than resorting to vote buying to secure electoral victory.

Speaking on Sunday while worshipping with members of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Army Barracks’ Road, Mokola, Ibadan, during their Family Thanksgiving Day, the federal lawmaker stressed that cash inducements degrade democracy. He noted that his presence at the Oyo South Regional Headquarters felt like a genuine homecoming, reinforcing his core conviction that legislative stewardship requires tangible community impact, deep accountability, and sustainable development.

Tackling Vote Buying Through Digital Empowerment

Outlining his strategic vision for Oyo South Senatorial District and Oyo State as a whole, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo reaffirmed his commitment to quality education, tech innovation, and youth capacity building. He revealed that a state-of-the-art technology initiative valued at approximately ₦1.2 billion—comprising fully equipped Information and Communication Technology (ICT) hubs across selected secondary schools—has been completed and is now ready for commissioning.

According to him, this large-scale investment was conceived specifically to expose young citizens to global digital opportunities, equipping them with the technical skills needed to compete in a fast-evolving global economy.

Why Sustainable Development Trumps Short-Term Inducements

The federal legislator, who currently represents Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency in the House of Representatives, reaffirmed his stance against vote buying and cash-for-votes tactics. He maintained that long-term social progress demands direct investment in human capital rather than political cash handouts during elections.

“I do not believe in using money to buy votes. I believe in investing in people and creating opportunities,” he stated.

He added that developing youth capacity remains essential if Nigeria is to build credible, accountable leadership for future generations. For him, providing citizens with access to quality education, technology, and practical skills delivers a far more enduring impact than temporary financial gestures.

Building Community Partnerships for Lasting Growth

Hon. Olajide Odidiomo reiterated his dedication to issue-based politics anchored on empowerment, transparency, and sustainable development. He emphasized that public office must serve as a vehicle to elevate living standards and expand economic prospects for ordinary citizens.

Describing his visit to the church as deeply meaningful, the APM candidate noted that beyond the political arena, he considers the congregation and the surrounding Mokola community an integral part of his home.

Demonstrating his ongoing commitment to local institutions, Odidiomo announced a financial contribution of ₦10 million toward ongoing development projects at the church. The donation allocates ₦5 million specifically for women’s development initiatives and another ₦5 million to support youth programs. He noted that supporting religious and civic institutions remains central to strengthening community structures that foster socio-economic stability.

The thanksgiving service was attended by church members, community leaders, and key stakeholders. Prominent leadership present included the Shepherd, Assistant Most Superior Evangelist J.O. Ayodele, JP, MPIC, and the Chairman of the Parochial Committee, Evangelist Bayo Awolusi, Esq.
