SENATOR Abdulfatai Buhari’s courage and consideration to vie for the gubernatorial position in 2019 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC in Oyo State is a welcome development and I wish the party can unanimously adopt him as the party flagbearer.

No doubt, he is a man with a great pedigree, a politician of note and repute, those who know him can attest to the fact that he is indeed a man of the people because his impacts on peoples lives are indelible.

Unlike many politicians in Nigeria, Senator Buhari is a distinguished gentleman who has distinguished himself as a reliable politician that can be trusted and relied upon, he has been tested, with power and trusted, and I am confident that he will not betray the confidence reposed in him.

Apart from being intelligent, the lawmaker is an embodiment of humility, he doesn’t allow the office he is holding to influence him, he is accessible and friendly. I am of the view that we need people like him to develop our political system because he represents the beautiful ones we are expecting in Nigeria politics, and if all political office holders can emulate him, Nigeria will no doubt be a better place for all of us.

He is one of the reasons why some of us still believe in APC, because the party paraded so many uncultured personalities with shady character and non performing political office holders at both the State and Federal level but he stands out as a politician who is diligently representing the interest of his people at the National Assembly where he is now and delivering dividends of democracy to his people through various form of empowerments .

Those who are not lucky to be from his constituency may not have much information about his performance because he is not a noise maker, he is a silent achiever who has through the empowerment and personal intervention programme transform the lives of many people in ogbomoso and Oke Ogun area of the state which represents Oyo North Senatorial District.

His two empowerment programmes in Saki and Iseyin were not just massive but adjudged as the best in the history of Oyo State, even Governor Abiola Ajimobi attested to his humility and performance as the best in the state in term of legislative duties and delivering of the dividends of democracy to the people.

I may not be accurate but from the records obtains from on the internet, he has distributed close to a hundred cars, over 1,000, sewing and grinding machines. Over 1,000 motorcycle, over 50 tricycle, transformers, generators, and several other items which have not only elevate the economic status of the beneficiaries but has assisted them in catering for their needs and support their children’s education.

As the chairman, Senate committee on ICT and Cybercrime, he has facilitated ICT centres for some schools in all the 13 local governments in his constituency and facilitated another five mega centres in the Ogbomoso and Oke Ogun. The genial lawmaker has also facilitated construction of many classrooms and supports thousands of students with financial aides interim of bursary and payments of WAEC fees for secondary school students apart from personal and direct support.

The distinguished senator was instrumental to rehabilitation and construction of some roads in the districts. As a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriation he and his Colleagues in the house from Oyo State were able to secure some funds for the ongoing ogbomoso –Oyo road and still mounting pressure on the executives to put more money to hasten the completion of the road.

The outspoken Senator is on the verge of securing a University of Agricultural Technology for the state In Oke Ogun through a motion raised on the floor of the house, the bill has passed the third reading and awaits committee for public hearing and ratification and if it scales through, many people would be gainfully employed and the region will witness rapid transformation.

Evil Triumph when good people refuse to act, Buhari is one of the good people that has demonstrated the courage to challenge the situation and make Oyo State great and I can boldly say that we need people like him, he is not just a pride, he is our best, let us support his aspiration to be the next governor of the state, and we will not regret it.

One thing I notice about the gentleman is that he is a man of peace, he loves justice and equity, his candidacy will afford equal distribution of wealth and spread development to other parts of the state.
