Key political figures in Oyo State have gathered to map out strategies aimed at securing a decisive electoral victory in the 2027 general elections. The high-level engagement saw the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal, join the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, and the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, as they assembled Ibarapa APM stakeholders to fortify party cohesion and accelerate grassroots mobilisation across the region.
The united front was unveiled during the Ibarapa APM Zonal Stakeholders’ Meeting hosted in Lanlate, situated within the Ibarapa East Local Government Area. Party leaders, political officeholders, electoral candidates, and grassroots organisers from all three local government areas across Ibarapa formally committed to unified action, mutual alignment, and robust campaign structures to accomplish the party’s long-term political objectives.
Stakeholder Assembly Targets 2027 General Elections Campaign Success
The strategic gathering was steered by Barr. Lawal and featured prominent party officials, including Hon. Peter Ojedokun, representing Ibarapa North/Central State Constituency, and Dr Nureni Adeniran, the Director-General of the APM Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council.
Other key figures driving the momentum for electoral victory included Hon. Dhikrullah Stanley (popularly known as Odidiomo Omo), the APM candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District; Hon. Anthony Adepoju (IbarapaKan), contesting for the Ibarapa North/Ibarapa Central Federal Constituency; and Hon. Adedeji Kolawole Sheu, candidate for the Ido/Ibarapa Federal Constituency.
Top administrative representation from the Oyo State Executive Council was equally robust. The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo (Ijaiya), and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, were actively present. The consultative session drew grassroots leaders from each of the ten political wards across the three local government areas, alongside ward executive officers, women leaders, and loyal party supporters.
Party Leadership Focuses on Ibarapa APM Stakeholders’ Unity and Discipline
Delivering his address to the delegates, Deputy Governor Lawal stressed the importance of internal harmony, urging all political actors and party faithful to bridge differences and collaborate closely ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He emphasised the importance of unity, discipline and sustained engagement with the electorate, urging stakeholders to complement one another’s efforts in building a formidable political structure across Ibarapa.
Addressing regional concerns directly, the Deputy Governor disclosed that several official requests and administrative demands raised by local delegates had been formally documented. He reassured those in attendance that prompt and decisive action would follow from the state leadership to resolve outstanding matters.
Grassroots Mobilisation Drives Party Influence Expansion Across Oyo State
Speaking on the party’s regional posture, Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin declared that the APM was progressively gaining political ground and establishing deeper roots across the Ibarapa zone. He noted that sustained unity, active engagement, and well-structured grassroots mobilisation remain vital to consolidating party strength and ensuring all fielded candidates achieve success at the polls.
Concurring with the Speaker, APM governorship candidate Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi called for an unyielding united front among leaders, candidates, and grassroots members alike.
Adekanmbi noted that the present administration in Oyo State had laid a solid foundation for the state’s all-round development, adding that he would build on the achievements and legacy of the administration.
The zonal meeting provided an open platform for grassroots delegates to brief state executive leaders on internal party affairs within their respective wards. Representatives submitted grievances and strategic recommendations, seeking direct executive intervention to strengthen party operations across the entire Ibarapa territory in the run-up to future polls.
