Worried by the lackadaisical attitudes of the youths to take their rightful position in developing the country, the founder, spiritual head, and grand Imam of Shafaudeen in Islam Worldwide, Alhaji Prof Sabit Ariyo Olagoke JP has disclosed that research has shown that the basic ingredient that can heal Nigeria problems is having a positive mindset to serve rather than to loot the nation’s treasury.

The front-line Islamic preacher, who is also the Mogaji OgunElu, Aare Alasa Dynasty, stated this during the Fourth Edition of the Annual Ramadan lecture titled ” Role Of The Youth In Nation Building: The Islamic Perspective, held at the Olunde Primary school, Olomi, Ibadan.

The event put together by the Odua People’s Congress (OPC) New Era also had prominent members of the society, while members of the Shafaudeen sect were also fully on the ground to listen to the erudite professor.

In his words, Prof. Olagoke hinted that the government at all levels must recognise the youths as the future leaders and thereby canvass for the positive engagement of the youths to move the nation forward.

The National Youth Council, Oyo State Chapter began awareness of government and society on youth empowerment needs for the society in 1964. Today, it is a body recognised by all the arms of government, local, state, and federal.”

Prof. Olagoke, however, stated that the pace-setting Laurel of the youths should be accorded the required recognition by giving the youths landed property to build a befitting secretariat for effective planning and working mechanisms.

Prof. Olagoke also advised the government to sponsor developmental projects through the youth body and other voluntary organisations, especially indigenous security outfits.

In his welcome address at the event, the National Public Relation Officer of the New Era, Comrade Adesina Akinpelu, while eulogising the Rasool Shafau, disclosed that the world is fortunate to have Prof. Olagoke at this time because of his vast knowledge of the Holy Qur’an , tradition and Western education.

Akinpelu, however, called on the nation’s government to tap from the Gods given knowledge of the respected cleric.

I am happy to be associated with you and our group. The OPC New Era will forever be grateful to you for honouring our invitation to deliver this lecture.

In a related development, Prof. Olagoke spoke about the Factors Militating Against Nation Building : Islamic Perspective at the I-Flier Media Maiden Ramadan Lecture held recently.

In his lecture, Prof. Olagoke identified the four cardinal points that will move the nation forward genuinely, according to him, which includes culture, education, religion, and good governance.

However, he called on religious leaders to breed thoroughbred disciples who would have a genuine interest in building the nation instead of looting it.

“Churches and Mosques are supposed to build the people that will yearn for true development through the aura of God”

Prof. Olagoke; the Rasool Shafau IM declared that the idea of an Interim National Government (ING) was satanic and manmade and should be discarded because, according to the Man of God, The divine verdict in having a stable Government of the President-Elect and others for the 10th Assembly had since been favoured with all authority by the Almighty Allah. What Nigeria needs now is peace and sustainable development through good governance.

The OPC New Era governor of the State, Comrade Sarafa Akindele, thanked the guests and disclosed that the group should not be associated with troubles but defend the genuine interests of the Yoruba Nation.

OPC is not out to cause trouble but to promote social cultural ideas of interest that can move us forward.

The set man of the lecture , the deputy ‘governor’ of OPC New Era, Comrade Kolawole Taofeek disclosed that he commenced the programme four years ago to bring its members more closer to their Creator and that his belief in only prayer and supplication to God prompted the take off of the event four years ago.

“I am most grateful to God for the success of this year’s edition, and my special thanks go to Prof. Olagoke for playing the fatherly role.”

Prof. Olagoke, for his outstanding successes in all ramifications, was installed the life Patron of OPC New Era.
