As part of his electioneering campaign promise to reconcile all genuinely aggrieved members of the party, the PDP National Vice Chairman, South West, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, has led a reconciliation team to Arole Iba Oluyole, Aree Oni Ibon of Ibadan Chief Nureni Akanbi.
Arapaja made the disclosure in a release signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bamitale Ibrahim, and made available to journalists in Ibadan.
Akanbi who is the Aree Onibon of Ibadan land, in his remarks, registered his bitter displeasure on how he has been treated which does not go well with him despite his struggle for the success of the party.
He lauded the initiative coming from Arapaja, stating that the avenue is a very good one as it provided him the opportunity to express his grievance on happenings so far and would be glad if things can be put in place to avoid the disunity that polarized the party since 2011 and continued till 2015, until it was managed in 2019 and the party recorded a huge success.
He insisted that all party members should be catered for to a certain extent, noting that if this is done there would be unity in the party.
Akanbi then promised to work for the success of the party and to make sure there is a unified party for all.
The South West PDP Woman Leader, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, in her remarks, said though it was not out of place for Akanbi to express his displeasure on happenings in the party due to his commitments to the success story of the party before, during and after the last election, now is the time for him to sheath swords and stand with one of his political sons who is now the National Vice Chairman, PDP South West.
Arapaja said he knew too well that Akanbi understands much more how politics is played and that as his current political godfather whom the late Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, handed him and others over to, it would be politically wrong for him to fail while having Akanbi around.
Arapaja was accompanied on the visit by party leaders that include Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Hon. Fatai Adeshina, Hon. Yinka Omikunle and Hon. Akande Modiu Allahbamusa, among many others.
