The presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde remains non-negotiable ahead of the 2027 general elections. This firm stance was declared by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole (Wolekanle).
The affirmation came as key political allies reaffirmed their unwavering support for the leader’s broader national agenda and local party structure.
During an official visit to the Bodija residence of Hon. Ajiboye Sangodade in Ibadan on Thursday, top political figures met to align strategy for Seyi Makinde 2027 campaigns.
Sangodade, the Convener of the influential grassroots movement Boye Nation and widely known as Aji, used the gathering to dispel recent rumours surrounding his political alignment. He formally declared his total commitment to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), its presidential vision, and its slate of candidates for the upcoming election cycle.
Wolekanle Reaffirms Makinde’s Presidential Ambition, Party Unity
Addressing a massive crowd of political supporters and community leaders, Wolekanle emphasised that the governor’s presidential ambition represents a collective drive for sustainable development and good governance across Nigeria. He noted that the administration’s track record in Oyo State serves as the ultimate proof of capability for higher national office.
Wolekanle expressed complete confidence in Makinde’s visionary leadership. He urged grassroots mobilisers to stay focused, preserve party unity, and strengthen political networks at the ward levels. The developmental initiatives of the Makinde administration must continue,” Wolekanle stated during his address, highlighting that continuous grassroots engagement forms the backbone of their electoral strategy.
Sangodade Pledges Support for Seyi Makinde 2027 Agenda
Responding to the delegation, Sangodade dismissed widespread speculations that he intended to leave the party. He promised to deploy his entire political machinery and grassroots network to guarantee victory for Seyi Makinde 2027 targets, alongside the APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, and all other party flagbearers.
Sangodade reassured the chief of staff of his readiness to work round the clock. He expressed firm confidence in Adekanmbi’s capability to succeed Makinde at the state level while the governor focuses on the federal stage. The meeting concluded with key stakeholders pledging their loyalty to Wolekanle following his recent appointment as Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor.
Strengthening Grassroots Support Across Allied Peoples Movement (APM)
The gathering at Bodija demonstrated strong momentum within the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) structure. Local leaders pledged to step up voter registration awareness and community outreach programs throughout the state. Political analysts note that early alignment among key grassroots mobilisers like Sangodade gives the governor’s national movement a solid local foundation.
As preparations for 2027 pick up speed, the message from the governor’s inner circle remains clear and direct. The presidential ambition driving the administration’s vision will continue to shape political alliances both in Oyo State and across the wider national landscape.
