The multi-skilled, astute, and avid finance professional Temitayo Nelson recently celebrated her 50th golden jubilee by jam-packing all roads leading to Wesley Chapel, Lekki, by Chevron Toll Plaza, Epe Expressway, Lagos.
Meanwhile, the Group Managing Director, YSE Limited and owner of Yes 101.7 FM, Ibadan, Mr Yemi Sonde, has congratulated her on marking the golden age.
Sonde, while speaking with journalists at his radio station at Felele in Ibadan, said, “Temitayo Nelson’s altruistic nature and humanitarian qualities are exemplary and worthy of appreciation.”
He stressed further that what amazed him is her aura of excellence and dignity, as well as the good human relations she performs when dealing with clients. He wishes her many happy returns of all the goodies of life.
Temitayo Nelson is a multi-skilled, astute, and avid finance professional who has been instrumental in various strategic turnarounds in organizations she worked with and in various capacities both in Nigeria and in the United Kingdom.
Temi, as she is fondly called by friends and associates, delivers value across several sectors in the Nigerian economy, including oil and gas, audit, consultancy and advisory practice, financial services and banking, manufacturing, automobile, technology, and hi-tech.
Her fingerprints and presence are also felt wherever she has served, as she has delivered strategic restructuring, business process re-engineering, value-for-money audit, financial control and financial performance repositioning, and operational and business risk management.
She started her career with Shell Petroleum Development Company and later joined an audit and consultancy practice before she worked with leading Nigerian banks.
She left indelible marks on several of the banks where she served. In one bank, her Corporate Audit Reports on Bank Head Office and Bank Outlets were the playbook used to turn bank operations around nationwide during her time as a banker.
She later relocated to the United Kingdom, handling various senior management roles in finance and strategy for automobile, hi-tech, technology and consulting companies.
Temi currently sits on the Board of Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc, one of the foremost and renowned pharmaceutical manufacturing companies in Nigeria, as the Executive Director of finance, where she manages the company’s finance operations and business strategies.
She founded Innovision Business Consulting Services, a management consulting practice that provides financial management advisory services to SMEs and MSMEs.
Aside from accounting and financial management, she is the Founder of Boys-to-Men Mission, a self-funded NGO that coaches and mentors teenage boys to become responsible men, fathers, and trustworthy leaders of tomorrow.
Temi relishes mentoring and impacting her acquired skills and knowledge in others, hence, she has many mentees across her career path.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a Chartered Banker, she attended the University of Ibadan, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension Services.
She is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants.
Temi was awarded the CIMA Centenary Award at the CIMA Centenary Award Ceremony as the Best-Performing Student at the 2019 Strategic Case Study Examination.
She is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant and a Life Member of Women in Management, Business, and Public Service (WIMBIZ).
Temi, as a registered member of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) and the Institute of Information System Audit and Control Association (ISACA), has over two decades of professional experience.
She was born on October 9, 1972, to the family of the late Amos Tonade, a renowned school teacher and college principal, and Dorcas Olalompe Tonade, a retired nursing matron. She is married with children.
Her passion for excellence has vividly rubbed off on her children. Thus, she is the proud mother of Mr Testimony Itunuoluwa Nelson, the youngest Qualified accountant in the 2020 November professional qualifying examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, having qualified at the record age of 17.
In recognition of her contribution to national development in the fields of accounting and eFinancial Management, Mrs Temitayo Nelson was deemed worthy of being conferred with the Woman of Merit Gold Award, which is part of the 21st PSR National Awards.
