The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) Oyo South 2027 senatorial candidate, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has taken his campaign agenda straight to grassroots community leaders across Ido and Ibarapa-East local government areas.

Unveiling a comprehensive “social pact,” the candidate committed to direct investment in education, modern farming, healthcare, technology, local jobs, and basic infrastructure.

Speaking on Thursday during an interactive session with members of the Community Development Councils (CDCs) of Ido and Ibarapa-East at their general meeting, Odidiomo made his intentions clear.

He told the gathered stakeholders that he attended the gathering specifically to establish a firm development agreement with local communities. He promised that his proposed legislative representation would rely entirely on a direct, active partnership with grassroots structures.

The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidate’s development framework for Oyo South covers five primary areas:

* Education & Skills: A comprehensive empowerment programme featuring student scholarships, youth technical and vocational education and training (TVET), digital and AI training for teachers, ICT and science laboratory interventions, and dedicated technology and entrepreneurship grants.

* Agribusiness: The Ibarapa agriculture empowerment and value chain programme provides targeted support for youth agripreneurs and smallholder farmers through an agricultural equipment bank, an agro-processing hub, solar irrigation systems, farmers’ cooperatives, and a dedicated Agricultural Financing Desk.

* Healthcare & Care: Proposed interventions include facilitating a federal medical centre for Oyo South to bring tertiary healthcare access directly to the district, drawing on successful regional models in neighbouring states.

* Technology & Hubs: The plan establishes one dedicated ICT hub in each of the nine local government areas across Oyo South to drive local digital skills development and tech-based youth empowerment.

* Infrastructure: The “Light Up Oyo South Senatorial District” initiative targets the installation of 100 solar street-light poles across each of the 99 wards—totaling 9,900 poles—alongside broader community infrastructure projects like road improvements and boreholes.

Empowering Youth via Education and Skills

Presenting his framework, the APM candidate outlined a five-component Oyo South education and skills empowerment programme. This plan features student scholarships, youth technical and vocational education and training (TVET), digital and Artificial Intelligence training for teachers, ICT and science laboratory interventions, as well as dedicated technology and entrepreneurship grants. He noted that the initiative aims to equip young people with practical skills and educational opportunities capable of preparing them for a modern economy driven by technology, skills, and innovation.

Boosting the Ibarapa Agriculture Empowerment and Value Chain Programme

Agriculture will also occupy a central position in his development agenda for Ibarapa. Through the Ibarapa agriculture empowerment and value chain programme, Odidiomo plans to transform regional food production.

The initiative will provide targeted support for youth agripreneurs and smallholder farmers, establish an agricultural equipment bank, create an Ibarapa Agro-processing hub, and introduce solar irrigation systems alongside farmers’ cooperatives, market linkage mechanisms, and an Agricultural Financing Desk. Odidiomo emphasised that the core objective remains strengthening the local agricultural value chain by giving rural farmers reliable access to equipment, financing, irrigation, processing facilities, and profitable markets.

Demanding Federal Healthcare and Digital Infrastructure

In addition to rural economic reforms, Odidiomo promised the facilitation of a federal medical centre for Oyo South. He referenced the successful operations of federal medical centres in neighbouring regions, including Ikole-Ekiti, Ebute-Metta and Epe in Lagos State, Abeokuta in Ogun State, and Owo in Ondo State, as clear examples of federal tertiary healthcare institutions serving their respective populations effectively.

To bridge the regional digital divide, he proposed establishing one ICT hub in each of the nine local government areas of Oyo South. He described these hubs as potential launchpads for digital skills development, technical training, and sustainable youth empowerment.

The Light Up Oyo South Senatorial District Initiative

Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo also unveiled the “Light Up Oyo South Senatorial District” initiative. Under this safety project, he promised the installation of 100 lighting poles in each of the 99 wards across the nine local governments, amounting to 9,900 street-light poles in total. He stated that the initiative would improve night-time security, extend productive operating hours, and support commercial activities across rural communities.

Earlier in the proceedings, the Chairman of the CDC, Ido Local Government, Alhaji Ola Lasisi Bello, acknowledged what he described as Odidiomo’s extensive philanthropic contributions to the sustenance of CDC structures across Oyo South. He highlighted that these personal intervention efforts long predated his emergence as the APM senatorial candidate.

Bello described Odidiomo as a practical politician who had already empowered thousands of Oyo indigenes with real skills. He urged stakeholders to back his vision and called on local residents to mobilize support for the APM candidate ahead of the upcoming election.

The stakeholders’ meeting brought together key political and community leaders. Attendees included the Oyo State governor’s representative, Hon. Akano Matthew, Special Adviser on Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency; the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo; council secretary, Hon. Kamorudeen Gbadamosi; and the Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderibigbe.

Other notable figures present included the Chief Imam of Ansarudeen Mosque, Omi-Adio; CDC Chairman for Ido Local Government, Engr. L.T. Salaudeen; APM chairmanship candidate for Ido LG, Barrister Fasina Olayemi, alongside his running mate, Ibrahim Do Jango; Hon. Wasiu Emiola Emma, APM chairman in Ido Local Government; and Chief J.T.O. Somite, Chairman of the Ologuneru Leaders Forum.
